Benefits Of Sewer And Septic Tanks
In rural areas where houses are spaced so far apart that a sewer system would be too expensive to install, people install their own, private sewage treatment plants. These are called septic tanks.
Normally a septic tank is nothing but a big cemented or steel tank which is kept buried in the yard. The tank might have the capacity to hold 1,000 gallons that is approximately 4,000 liters of water. The process is the waste water passes into the tank at one end and exits at the other side of the tank. Basically a homeowner built its own septic system and it is not shared by anyone else.

Septic tanks are constructed with one big cemented box with two sections. One part of the septic tank receives the waste which is flushed while the other part receives the liquid or the grey water which has been decayed.
If you don’t have your tank regularly pumped out there will build up a crust which has to be removed.
If you follow the handling of the waste and do regular pumping out of the tank then you will find the septic system neither hard nor irritating.
As the septic system is made up of concrete it has to be replaced with a new one after 20-25 years. So find out when the tank was last changed or you may have to do it. Remember when you are changing the tank do not forget to change the weeping bed also.
