Dragons Den Star Theo Paphitis All You Need To Know
Theo Paphitis was moved to The UK with his family. At that point he was very young. However he didn’t waste too much time getting involved with business. His 1st business was running his school Tuck Shop.
The first Job that Theo Paphitis got was as a Tea Boy and filing clerk at a London Based Insurance Brokers. He wasn’t being very much and so he eventually looked for a job in retail where he eventually become a sales assistant for a Swiss Watch Company in Bond Street.
So that he could get more experiance Theo Paphitis got a job at Legal and general when he was 21. The job involved selling commercial mortages. This gave him great experiance in reading balance sheets
After a few years he and with the help of a freind he eventually went on to set up a property finance company which is where he made his first serious money. This was during the eighties and coincided with the rise of the property market. He then noticed an increase in mobile phones and decided to buy into NAG Telecom and become chairman. Theo Paphitis managed to gain concessionary positions in Ryman’s the Stationer and therefore gained a large market share for NAG.
Paphitis became known for turning around the fortunes of failing companies when he bought Ryman’s, Contessa and Partners and made turned them from failing companies into succesful business ventures.
Theo was eventually asked to Join Dragons Den in 2005 and has remained on the panel since then. He is seen to be one of the easier judges to approach and invested in a number of ventures since being involved with the show.
He now co-owns Red Letter Days with Fellow Dragon Peter Jones. Paphitis also sold his equity stake in La Senza for approximately 100 million in 2006.
In 2008 Theo Paphities appeared on the Sunday Times Rich List with an estimated worth of 135 Million this is said to have increased to 165 million in 2009.
