Get Peace of Mind With a Sitter Cam

Leaving your children in the care of a relative stranger can be quite a difficult decision. Parents never take this lightly but sometimes have to consider their options, especially at times like today when budgets can be very tight indeed. Sometimes to make ends meet both parents must be out when children are at home and in this case a sitter cam can keep an eye on what’s going on.

Many parents opt to enlist the services of a trusted friend or often an older teenager to watch over their kids. Leaving children in the care of another requires a considerable leap of faith and it is little wonder that parents opt to use a sitter cam, to give them the peace of mind they seek.

If it is absolutely essential for both parents to be out of the house when young children are home from school, for example, then they sometimes have to turn to local advertisements to find the services of a nanny. It is important that all parties are very honest and upfront during the selection process.

Polls tell us that many nannies, especially those that take on such jobs frequently, do not mind being observed by a sitter cam so long as it is disclosed upfront. This helps to build a mutual feeling of trust and gets away from the feeling of deception that the sitter could feel if the camera were subsequently disclosed or discovered.

As a sitter cam can be hidden in a variety of everyday household items these days, such as a clock or a toy and can be wired or wireless it is unlikely that the nanny would be aware of its existence, unless the parents actually disclosed it or needed to refer to it if something happened.

There is so much at stake, the use of a sitter cam is very common. It seems to make most sense all around if the parents disclose that it is being used in advance. However, while you can imagine that this would discourage any misbehavior, if the nanny knew where the camera was she could bypass it accordingly.

Remember to check with your local jurisdiction to see if you can use recordings of a person’s voice without their consent as this is not allowed in many states. Generally speaking however you can use a camera within your home as it is private space.

If parents choose to use a day care center for their kids, the majority of these places actually use voluntarily installed cameras to give parents real-time access links to watch what is going on. Most parents don’t use these but have piece of mind.
