Gift Baskets For All

Gift Baskets For All

They’re all around you, on the streets and in the malls. It might even be you. It’s a disorder that’s spreading fast in the richest countries where good food is plentiful. Generation F is on the rise. ‘F’ for Foodie. You can take a quiz to find out if you’re afflicted but why do that when the Oxford Dictionary defines a foodie as ‘a person who is very interested about cooking and eating all types of food.’How do you know if you’re part of the ‘very interested’ category? Read the following list of common symptoms.

Firstly, check yourself the next time you get together with friends. Do most of your conversations center around food? For instance, the latest food review you read, recipe you tried or the newest Italian joint in town? Do you take great delight in sharing over and over again how your Aunt Mae discovered the best meals while on a road trip to nowhere and often dream aloud about how wonderful it would be to follow in her footsteps? When in a new restaurant, do you find yourself wishing that you had the digestive system of a cow so that you would be able to try all the very many dishes available on the menu seeing as how you cannot very well make up your mind?

Doesn’t the last sentence imply sheer gluttony? If you answered ‘yes’ to more than one of the above, you are a bona fide foodie, or foodie in the making. Now that we have confirmed the situation, let’s move on. You might be asking? What does this have to do with gift shopping? Well, it’s a fairly high chance that if you are a foodie, all your pals would be foodies as well, since science has it that birds of a feather do flock together. Doesn’t that make the gift shopping experience so much more interesting?

Try to control yourself a bit browsing the food aisles, but imagine the great pleasure your foodie friend will get when enjoying the same stuff that you enjoy! All you need is the perfect occasion to go food gift shopping. A friend’s birthday or anniversary is always so convenient. If not, you can justify the food gift to celebrate Christmas or Thanksgiving, and even Labor’s Day if you’re desperate.

For your shopping spree, you can now hop into all the food places and have a fun day browsing through the various delectable goodies to fill the gift basket. For midnight snack fanatics, a snack gift basket is the most fitting choice. It can be sweet or savory snacks. If you’re overwhelmed by the variety of snacks out there, go for the premium or jumbo gift basket which is filled to the brim with snacks to satisfy every craving.

As for foodie fanatics of the gourmet variety, what they crave is specialty food items that are hard to get. Luxurious dips and jams, rare wines and custom made chocolate will leave a lasting impression long after the goodies have been consumed. For the finicky gourmet who must taste the rarest and most unusual stuff, go for meat and cheese baskets made up of wild boar bacon, smoked pheasant and goat chese. A lot of online retailers are now catering to this select group who loves anything exotic.

Question: what do you do if your close pal practices Judaism but is a closet foodie at the same time? Answer: Why, get him a kosher gift basket of course! Kosher food items are such a big market these days that you can be sure to find an appropriate gift basket, be it for Purim or in remembrance of the Passover.

After much hard work selecting the most delicious foods to add to the basket, all you need to do after the delivery is to await the phone call saying “thank you” and perhaps your friend will invite you over to enjoy the nibbles together. It’s only fair that you accept! Generation F will survive another day.
