Stop Popping Pimples!
In our modern society, instant gratification has become commonplace. Plastic surgery and other medical treatments have allowed people to lose weight relatively quickly or to eliminate wrinkles and fine lines within a few hours. When it comes to treating acne, most people are disappointed to find that instant gratification is not an option. Acne is, after all, a complex disorder that will continue to resurface unless all its facets are addressed. Instead of coming to accept this fact of life, many of us resort to popping our pimples. However, as some have learned, pimple squeezing can have some serious consequences.
Aside from those who squeeze their pimples for the mere fun of it, most of us have one goal in mind in tampering with our lesions – to get rid of them. Unfortunately, we accomplish anything but this. Applying pressure to a pimple can thrust the bacteria further downward, elongating its overall lifespan. The bacteria can even seep into nearby pores. Is one pimple really worth the aggravation of three new ones?
No discussion advising against pimple popping is complete without mention of acne scars. Acne scars can be the result of picking at lesions, most especially inflamed ones. Those who have done their fair share of squeezing can attest to the fact that scars can be discouraging an unsightly, especially after having dealt with the horrors of acne itself.
You can believe what you want, but rest assured that there are no instant or overnight treatments for acne. When you are ready to face reality, you can stop tampering with your lesions. The faster you come to this realization, the more hopeful your future looks.
If you want semi-quick results for an important date, use a generous amount of benzoyl peroxide (2.5% concentration) on your troubling lesions. This should dry them out as well as eliminate p. acnes bacteria. You will not see improvement if you tamper with your pimples, so restrain yourself.
