<p>Just do it; make that list. Here are a few samples: 1. Inadequate funds. 2. Too hectic. 3. Betsy is always in a bad mood. 4. Bruce never does want I&#8217;d like him to. 5. My sister acts so nasty toward me. There&#8217;s no reason behind her to be nasty!</p>
<p>What can you do to change each of these unhappiness items? I&#8217;ll give you some hints. 1. I&#8217;m so grateful for the money we do have. I&#8217;m also grateful that we live in a world of opportunities where we can always look for ways to augment our income. 2. I enjoy managing my time well, so I never have to feel that I&#8217;m too busy to read stories to my children, or create a wonderful bedtime experience for them when they can share all the events of the day with me. 3. I&#8217;m going to do something special for Betsy today. I know she&#8217;s depressed about being overweight. I&#8217;m going to compliment her on her computer skills; she&#8217;s a genius and I think she doesn&#8217;t really know that. 4. Bruce is only two years old and he&#8217;s eager to test his wings. I will be loving and firm with him, letting him know who&#8217;s in charge. I&#8217;ll make the rules into a game. 5. Repeat Number 3 with a variation. What would make your sister feel special, loved, wanted, and needed?</p>
<p>Place those negative feelings into the washing machine and add plenty of detergent.</p>
<p>How many people do you know who can still recall some of the terrible things that happened to them years, even decades ago? I know a woman in her mid-sixties who can still remember names that the &#8220;mean kids&#8221; called her in elementary school.</p>
<p>That is a long time to carry around that memory. I wonder if she remembers some of the compliments her grade school friends paid her.</p>
<p>For whatever reason, our minds are likely to store &#8220;junk.&#8221; All of us keep all the bad things that individuals have claimed or done to us over time. Over and over in our mind, all of us replay tape loop of life&#8217;s injustices: justifying our hurt, anger, or bitterness.</p>
<p>Why? Why hold on to all of that? Make a list of reasons.</p>
<p>Can you develop a minumum of one reason for keeping yourself in a state of feeling bad, resentful, angry or depressed?? What is the pay-off?</p>
<p>Release the junk. Make room for additional joy!</p>
<p>Step #3 Be Thankful</p>
<p>Being grateful for what you have and what you are is crucial to the way you feel about yourself and your scenario. It&#8217;s so easy to pay attention to what is going wrong, but why not be thankful for what is going right? Again, we are deciding to feel this way, based not a lot on what is happening around us, but with what is happening within us.</p>
<p>Our bodies respond with a powerful, positive sensation when we express our gratitude; it is that sensation that creates happiness.</p>
<p>Emphasizing great things makes us feel great.</p>
<p>Has anyone ever paid you a compliment that you didn&#8217;t accept? For example, has somebody told you your new dress is very becoming and you responded by saying, &#8220;Oh, this old thing?&#8221;</p>
<p>Maybe at work someone complimented you on a job well done and you responded, &#8220;It was nothing.&#8221;</p>
<p>Why is it often difficult to accept a compliment? Why can&#8217;t we be grateful and just say &#8220;thank you&#8221;?</p>
<p>When we all decline a compliment, we all think all of us are being humble, but the message it delivers to our subconscious is altogether different.</p>
<p>Rejection of a compliment sends a message to the brain that we are not pretty, or smart, or hard working! This response also makes the person who paid us the compliment feel bad because we didn&#8217;t accept it.</p>
<p>When we all are grateful and accept the kind words someone has given us, it makes us feel good inside. That compliment is stored in our &#8220;hard drive,&#8221; and continues to provide positive energy.</p>
<p>Come with an attitude of gratitude. Make a choice to be grateful and satisfied. Be grateful for the job you have, even if you are not satisfied in that job. Be thankful for your co-workers, even though they may drive you crazy. Be pleased about your boss who is hard on you, but additionally challenges you, and makes you stretch beyond you thought you can.</p>

<p>Then there are the resolutions that are made in &#8216;good faith&#8217;, that are believed in at the time, but which slip quietly away a few weeks or months in to the year. Anybody who is serious about actually achieving their goals, will know why these wishful fantasies went the way they did &#8211; the lack of a plan of action.</p>
<p>But what about the New Year&#8217;s resolutions that we actually sit down and take the time to map out and plan out? The things, or changes, we truly desire in our life. These are the ones that stick the longest, and are those which can literally last a lifetime.</p>
<p>The question is then, into which category do the resolutions that you made last December fall within? Another would be, how successful have you been in sticking to them?</p>
<p>Regardless of whether you have already broken yours, or if you are still going strong with them, the following applies to you&#8230;</p>
<p>To succeed in achieving your goals, which is what, essentially, a New Year&#8217;s resolution is, you need to have a system in place. Not just any system will suffice though, that system needs to be both positive and smart, such as the one below&#8230;</p>
<p>1: Establish what exactly it is that you want to achieve. You should focus one just one or two things, and then set new goals only when you achieved them, or nearly achieved them.</p>
<p>2: Decide when you want it. To measure your progress, and to ensure that you are moving in the right direction, a realistic timescale, and accompanying milestones need to be in place.</p>
<p>3: Know what you stand to gain. If you are going to put in the sweat equity, the reward must equal the effort.</p>
<p>4: Consider what you will lose. Know that for progress to be made, sacrifices will have to be made.</p>
<p>5: Prepare for probable obstacles. Any worthwhile goal will require you to overcome obstacles, so you need to know both what they are and how you will overcome them.</p>
<p>6: Create a plan of action. Without a plan you will soon find yourself deviating from your original intentions.</p>
<p>7: Know what is required on a daily basis. Break your plan down into a day-to-day schedule of things that you need to accomplish.</p>
<p>8: Never give up. The difference between success and failure is whether you immediately pick yourself and get back on track when times are hard or you make a mistake.</p>

<p>5) Evaluate what achieving it will also take away from you, such as time, money or people.</p>
<p>6) Write an overall action plan.</p>
<p>7) Create a daily routine / timetable based on your overall plan of action.<br />

<p>So, anger is the emotion a person experiences when he or she does not get their way, or when a series of issues, which had lain buried waiting for the time to spring forth, rise to the surface. Aggression is a forceful act or modus operandi utilized to dominate another individual. Aggression is an argumentative, harmful or destructive way of behaving especially when caused by frustration. Aggression can be a good thing if your life is threatened, but in most instances aggression is a destructive force.</p>
<p>Assertiveness on the other hand is an effective form of communicating your feelings to someone else individual without causing injury, havoc or antipathy. Assertiveness is a strong, bold,confident quality we have within us in order to help us to defend our rights when others are trying to wrong us. If we learn the difference between aggression and assertiveness we can learn a good behavioural pattern, while controlling our life and avoiding further problems.</p>
<p>If you are feeling frustrated, you might want to sit down and review your beliefs, opinions, theories, reasoning etc. By reviewing the sources that make you angry, you can reduce the tension when you see anger brewing; you will then realize that it is not worth getting angry, since the causes of your frustrations are out of your control. For example, when you are considering your situation, you might see another point of view and conclude that your frustration is out of order. </p>
<p>Assertive action against a person who has wronged you, can prove far more effective than blowing a gasket. We can see from an example, how someone loses his or her temper and what consequences he or she must face because of it. </p>
<p>For instance, two people are engaged in an argument and a fight breaks out. One of the people was accused of spreading lies about the other one. The ensuing violent episode attracts the neighbours who call the police. When the police arrive, both parties are placed in handcuffs and both are taken to gaol. Their problems have increased as they both may have to pay fines, court costs and, possibly, probation fees. So, one problem has led to a series of other problems and it does not stop there. When the pair has paid off all of their fines, costs and so forth, they will have a police record whereby everyone will judge them for the rest of their lives, considering them immature, violent people not to be trusted.</p>
<p>Now let&#8217;s look at a different example were assertiveness was used in the scenario. Two friends are talking to each other after one person has spread rumours around the neighborhood about the other person. The victim of the rumours walks up to his friend and asks, &#8220;Why are you telling people I have a drinking problem?&#8221; The other person says, &#8216;I did not tell anyone you have a drinking problem&#8221;. &#8220;I don&#8217;t believe you, sorry!&#8221;, says the first person, &#8220;You told my best friend and he&#8217;s not a liar&#8221;. &#8220;Well, I thought you had a drinking problem because you are drinking every time I came round your house&#8221;.</p>
<p>&#8216;Just because I am drinking every time you come by my house doesn&#8217;t mean that I have a problem. I won&#8217;t let you to keep dragging my name through the mud and I won&#8217;t allow you to visit my place again, if you continue lying about me. Friends don&#8217;t hurt their friends. So, if you have any problems with me just talk to me about them instead of going behind my back&#8217;. What a very good job! This person did a great job asserting himself and the results will most likely prove fruitful. Let&#8217;s see what happens next. &#8216;I&#8217;m really sorry; I didn&#8217;t mean to offend you. I will speak to you next time I have a problem with you. However, I am still worried that your drinking may be a problem, since you do drink every time I visit your home&#8217;. &#8216;Well, OK then let&#8217;s go to my place and discuss the matter&#8217;.</p>
